#1 Welcome to Myshortpencil
I've been knocked off the top spot by the defection/visit of Myshortpencil, joining us for Bitcoin and crunching several million credits per hour.
I'm not sure what it's all about but it makes the stats a lot more interesting. :)
Anyhow, whatever your reason for being with us, welcome, and please join the forum so, as well as explaining your slightly unexpected presence with us, you can join in all the rest of our merry banter. :)

Thanks for the welcome, Megacruncher, and to TSBT for allowing me to join your forum. My rockminers are acting up at the moment, so my production will likely tank for a while.
But, not to worry MC, you'll be back to #1 in a few days. :)
As I've privately written to MC and Scole, I'm just visiting for a while from SETI.USA to help your team. I just came from The Ohio State University team, where I added 1.3 billion credits to its total. I picked TSBT for several reasons, the most important of which is my fond memories of comments made by team members in BOINC challenges. I like the way TSBT crunches. I also lived in a hotel in Brechin for several months in the 1970s when the USA had a Naval Communications station nearby.
As some of you may know, SETI.USA is really generating more credits than we can use for the moment. See: http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=boincteams#
Being in the #1 spot, overall, for the moment, our team is interested in maintaining positive affiliations with all BOINC teams. So, I've taken off on a trip through the teams to visit with them and crunch for them for a while.
Scole told me that TSBT is in a friendly rivalry with UK BOINC Team, and the goal is to overtake them. When I checked, TSBT is crunching about 1 billion credits more per week than UKBT. To maintain fairness, I agreed with Scole to crunch an equal number of credits for UKBT after I leave here, which I expect to be before you catch them. I certainly don't want to disrupt relations between the two teams.
I'd like to add, that I consider Scotland my second favorite place in the world, outside of Ohio. Parts of it are very much like Ohio, and Scots are great fun!

Originally from Ohio or OSU alumn? I grew up in SW Ohio and still have friends all over the state; Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus and Mansfield areas.

Welcome aboard Myshortpencil
- even if it is only a temporary visit
Always nice to have someone new along and feel free to return anytime and say hi.
Also want to say well played sir for sharing some of the bitcoin credit bonanza - hopefully your gesture will be appreciated by all that receive your help!

Thanks scole and Silver. I'm originally from Muskingum County, the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, in southeastern Ohio, where we raised Angus beef cattle on our farm. :) I'm also an OSU alumnus from 1978 to 1986. I met my wife in Mansfield :) Also worked in Columbus and Marion.

Welcome to our merry band of misfits
Remember, even when you leave us crunching wise , you don't have to leave the forum. Don't be a stranger, stick around and pop back any time you like. ( and don't be too sure Mega will be #1 when you leave
)

Parting is such sweet sorrow, but a little less painful when leaving a billion credits behind. :) It's off to UBT -- to get run over by you.
This is gonna hurt. Lang may yer lum reek!

Thanks for your help Mr Pencil. Hope you'll keep in touch and pop back to join in with our banter.
Good luck and happy crunching on your tour of the teams :)

Myshortpencil, your obligation has been fulfilled. TSBT has the #1 spot in the UK fair and square. Now, if you're done hobnobbing with UBT, we would welcome you back to TSBT. :)

#13 Re: Welcome to Myshortpencil
Staying on top of things, are ye? I was noticing I hit 1 billion with UBT today. TSBT is now the 8th ranked team in the world based on daily production! Incredible job, all. As much as I'd love to come back, I think I'll move on to Canada for a while. But I'll keep y'all in mind. :)
I am wondering though, If Scotland leaves the UK, won't UBT be #1 in the UK, again? :)
Cheers.

Very well. You have an open slot should you ever wish to return. Send team Canada regards from TSBT. Just one favor...what is UBT up to? Could earn you back that medal

It would be. And we would be #1 in Scotland. Sadly neither of us would have any credible rivals.myshortpencil wrote:If Scotland leaves the UK, won't UBT be #1 in the UK, again? :)
Cheers.

As a slogan I saw in a field today put it "Proud to be Scottish! Delighted to be United!"

I'm hoping you will not boot me out of your very nice forum, but just so you won't be surprised, I'm letting you know that I'm back with UBT for a few days with a little more crunching power

You are definitely NOT getting that medal
Tell UBT to fix our team stats else I shall deploy on a TSBT special forces mission. I can narrow your location from your IP address to a 10x10 mile area. I have a scanner than can tune into the EMI r-boxes generate from there, find you and neutralize those miners. 8)

Awesome! It would be worth the show except for one tiny problem. Three quarters of my miners aren't at this IP address. They're across country because I've heard of pirates like you. :) As for the medal -- stuff it in your haggis!
Besides, there's not much chance of catching up to you. Timbo's wife put the kibosh on the electric bill for 7 bfls
. So this is pretty much a futile rear-guard action. :)

I know you all know that was humor, but Myshortpencil, please don't bother saying anything about the stats. The fellow who wrote and supports it is aware of it. He and UBT have provided us with stats as a favor, we all appreciate it and understand it will be taken care when possible. I'm just having a little fun. :)

OK, so UBT gained a puny 12 million credits on TSBT, yesterday. How many lashes for that?

You seem to be enjoying hanging out over there

Actually, I'm rather anxious to resume my World Tour, but I felt kinda of badly about having TSBT pass UBT while I was crunching for them. Hopefully, within the next 10 days, I'll have some surprises for you, then I think I'll move to KWSN for a while. :)Alez wrote:You seem to be enjoying hanging out over thereMust be a sucker for the under dog
You know, if you went on a world tour, this would be a lot easier.
#27 Re: Welcome to Myshortpencil
I hope you don't intend to try and even out the odds as we would have passed them regardless, same as they passed us before and probably will do so again at some point in the future. It's the nature of the beast with 2 teams such as ours. As for surprises .... not a big fan really
