Hi everyone!
Just want to introduce myself briefly here. I have very recently moved to Glasgow from Germany to start a new job here at Glasgow Uni. Really great city!
I also only recently started to crunch numbers again after quite some absence due to problems with BOINC. And as being now "Scottish by residence" I reckon I could just as well contribute to the effort of the Scottish BOINC team

As to your question - I am a biochemist and have just started on a three year research research project. It's basically about heart disease - everyone tells me I've come to the right place for that... Deep fried mars bar - 'nuff said

Welcome.
I've never tried deep fried Mars bar. However an idea of Scottish healthy eating standards can be got from the fact that the other day my work canteen, in an NHS Hospital, specified as the "Healthy Option of the Day" Lamb Curry (served with chips and rice).
Still, having so many of our countrymen die before pension age keeps our taxes down!

Have that arguement regularly out here with the camp boss.
healthy option one night was Macaroni Cheese. Other two options were roast chicken or Cottage Pie.
Tried to point out that the Chicken was healthier than the Macaroni, response was but the macaroni doesn't have meat in it! I gave up at that point!

Never looked at it that way - this explains why my salary is much higher than it was in Germany. And I guess it secured my funding, too...Still, having so many of our countrymen die before pension age keeps our taxes down!
