#1 Vulcan XH558

This is the project that over the last few years has returned the Vulcan bomber XH558 to airworthiness.
But they need help, they are short on the funding to support this massive project.
Please follow the above link and spare them a few quid to get this magnificent beast back where it belongs and not stuck in a hanger.
If you get the chance to go to an airshow and see and hear this plane then I highly recommend it.
The "blue note" as the engines throttle up and approach full power will have the hairs on the back of your neck standing up.

They have so far spent over £6million on getting the aircraft fit to fly, now it is just running costs that they are needing to cover.
My childhood was spent with these things overhead as my dad flew them for nearly 20 years.

I was actually lucky enough to get a flight in a Vulcan in 1983 (50 Sqn) during my time in the RAF, an experiance I will never forget. If my memory serves me well it was from RAF Waddington.

Can't match that, I was taken to one of the Airshows at RAF Finningley (now Robin Hood Airport - once again the yorkshiremen stealing RH from Notts...) when there was a demo of the QRA, 4 Vulcans airborne within 2 minutes of the scramble sounding. That was some noise!
Did have a ride in XM575 at EastMidlandsAirport one time
Only regret my dad never took me to Scampton when 617 were flying Vulcans from there...
Missed the announcement in October of 558's first flight, but even watching the videos on Youtube on my laptop (not very good speakers) the hair was standing up. About 15 sec into this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VECwLl06ik0 did it for me!!!
Will she be at Leuchars this Sept?

617 was my Dad's first Vulcan squadron at Scampton.
Think they are still at Lossiemouth using the Tornado's.
No show dates confirmed yet as the flight cert still hasn't been issued and there was a funding crisis.

Counting down the days until leuchars this year, I missed there not being one last year cos they were resurfacing the runway.

The website says that the vulcan should fly but no guarantees http://www.airshow.co.uk/

Its a beautiful aircraft, id love to see it fly (and hear it :D )

Looks like it may well be your last chance to see this bird, unless a lot of money is found anyway...
