Alez, are you running this challenge? If so, I'll switch over from Asteroids and start prepping.

yip, GPU's on it. Just need to get off the poor genefer and give it on the sieve app. Another day for a star on AP27 then point whore time.

And the bunker building is in progress...

Will knock off ap27 tomorrow morning ( or today depending on your view pooint ) and start building my pendings. Waiting on some stuff from ebay to resurect a couple of gpu systems. Looking at upgrading as well. Anyone got a comparision between gtx 660ti's and gtx 960's and any advice cost versus points for 960's or above ?

I don't have a GTX 660ti anymore, but back during a POEM run I ran a some WU on 660ti then swapped that out for a GTX 970. The GTX 970 was 4x faster than a GTX 660ti
Here's the post where I did that comparison of Kepler vs. Maxwell and Pascal GPUs on POEM...http://www.tsbt.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... 002#p48874
Here is a recent compare of Maxwell and Pascal GPUs on PG sieve...
A GTX 970, in E3-1246 v3 @ 3.50GHz system PCIe 3.0 but only running 8x speed, avg 9:48
A GTX 1070, in E3-1246 v3 @ 3.50GHz system PCIe 3.0 but only running 8x speed, avg 7:30
A GTX 960, in X5650 @ 2.67GHz PCIe 2.0 16x speed, avg 17:45
A GTX 1060, in E5-2603 0 @ 1.80GHz PCIe 3.0 16x speed, avg 10:25
A GTX 750ti, in X5675 @ 3.07GHz PCIe 2.0 16x speed, avg 30:35
A GTX 750ti, in Xeon @ 2.20GHz PCIe 3.0 16x speed, avg 27:35
A OC model GTX 750ti, in X5670 @ 2.93GHz PCIe 2.0 16x speed, avg 27:40
Here's a comparison chart of the Pascals...http://www.tsbt.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... 002#p49306
Might be worth looking at the GTX 1050ti also. Just remember with all the GPUs, the bigger the GPU the better the GFLOP/watt performance. Point is, if you're looking at upgrading more than 1 GPU, it might be worth getting 1 bigger GPU rather than 2 smaller ones.

I'm not sure bunker is an adequate description of that drop

Well, it's GPU season right now so I have to make the most of it. Better take a picture of our 1st place position though. Those other teams chew up over 20 mil PG per day.

Only the borg have made it past us so far. Hopefully the postman brings me some memory modules tomorrow to get another GPU system online and a HDD to get one more online.
Silver get sieving. I see both mr Carver and mr Mega are doing some sterling work too.

I'll try but I'm not sure if I'm set up to sieve, since I'm running the manual config thing.....

We're currently 4th. Not bad considering the competition though. Rechenkraft.net is slowing gaining us I think.

Ugh! We need to squeeze out a little more PG for just a few more hours. KWSN is close to passing us. Just 4 more hours...DIG!

#14 Re: 8/1-12/1 CRUNCHATHLON PG [MONTHLY RUN - RACE IX] PrimeGrid
Which is faster on Pascal ... Cuda or OpenCL? Is PPS Sieve still the best for quick credits?scole250 wrote:Ugh! We need to squeeze out a little more PG for just a few more hours. KWSN is close to passing us. Just 4 more hours...DIG!
EDIT: I don't think it is going to matter. I chose Cuda and WU are taking 4.4 minutes. Assuming my wingmen are doing them at the same rate and have 100 WU in cache then they won't get to them for 440 minutes ... 7.33 hours. A day late and a dollar short

I've not run the opencl sieve on Nvidias before. I messed up and ran out of aged WUs on most systems.

#16 Re: 8/1-12/1 CRUNCHATHLON PG [MONTHLY RUN - RACE IX] PrimeGrid
Out of 12 I've had 3 validate so I guess it won't be a total waste of time. I switched preferences to OpenCL and it says there is no work available so I guess that makes Cuda the smart choice :)
