Been a long time since I ran Collatz GPU tasks. I tried it on a system with Win7 64 and GTX 750ti and got all comp errors. Any clues? Running the 344.11 driver.
Never mind. Appears I just needed the latest Visual C++ distribution found here...https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... x?id=30679
Don't forget to reboot after installation.
Any optimization for the new Collatz apps?
And 50 WU max?

Had no luck getting it run on AMD GPU on one system. Tried setting up another but it looks like they've already sucked up all the WUs.
Well heck! That's 0 for 2 on my tahiti systems. Any suggestions? I've already reset the project, uninstalled all existing C++ redist and re-installed and rebooted after recommended C++ redist install.

Wierd, I've just pushed my AMD's over from Einstein ( going
) to collatz and they have picked up sieve units no issue and are completing them. What GPU as I've got it on 7970, 7770, R9270 and 6970 without issue.
What does the output file say on the failed units ?
Tried to check on collatz but comps are hidden

Do you have a config file ? it looks like items_per_kernel has been replaced with sieve_size. I'm running stock and seem to have 99% usage with that.

Exit status -1073741819 (0xffffffffc0000005) Unknown error number - very helpful .... NOT
Reason: Access Violation (0xc0000005) at address 0x00007FFE8C765E8E write attempt to address 0x00000024
seems to be a memory related failure. I presume no anti virus etc. What else are you running on the machine ? Try setting another core free and check with open hardware or similar memory load. They are all showing the same error. I'm on boinc 7.6.9 but can't see that being an issue.
Mainly error seems to be related to ram and or drivers.
Try reinstall boinc to 7.6.9
Reinstall AMD drivers ( use the same as what works on other systems )
Increase amount of disk and memory ( if poss ) available to BOINC

try this list see if it helps ?
This is a very difficult error to trace correctly. It could be anything of the ones I'll give below, or none of them. Please be patient in tracing this error. Do report it on the project's forums and let the people there guide you along as well.
1. Your system is over-clocked to the max. Clock back to a more normal level for troubleshooting.
2. You use corrupt system drivers. Update your motherboard chipset drivers.
3. You use outdated/corrupt graphics drivers. Update the drivers for your graphics card or do not use the screen saver/graphics in BOINC.
4. Your DirectX version is outdated. Update DirectX. See Self Help: Links to Drivers for the link.
5. The image link(s) in BOINC are broken. Uninstall BOINC and reinstall it/upgrade it to the latest available version.
6. The image link(s) in the project's application are broken. Reset the project from within BOINC.
7. Since the error is based on the Windows 0xc0000005 error (Access Violation), it could also be:
- faulty RAM. --> test with memtest86+
- an incorrect/corrupt device driver. --> check for updates
- poorly written/updated software.
- malware/adware installations.

No problem with the Nvidias.
I did get one 7970 system to run Collatz but had to install CCC 15.11 (and I can't figure out how to control fans or clock speed) and I had to uninstall all other versions of Visual Studio C++ which broke Afterburner, so I can't control the GPU. What version CCC and afterburner you running?

#13 Re: 9/12-16/12 * Duo Centum Quadrigis Provocationes * Collatz Conjecture
Off the top of my head I am using 14.2 ccc. I will go and check for you. I'm not using afterburner just now as I havn't needed to. I do check with open hardware. As for afterburner you fairly much have to use the lastest version as the older versions cease to function after 6 months from an upgrade.
Is 15 the new crimson drivers ? If so you need to find where they have hidden the overclock feature and enable it. It is still there but it is not obvious. I don't know myself as I only had crimson on a system for a few hours but it did set my fans to run at 20%, never ramping up and now I have a damaged 7970 so not touching it until it is 100 % safe. I'm not happy about that.
If it is crimson you are running then check that the fans are ramping up or not. If not you can try and force it through overclock or afterburner but I would say get it off your system before it fries the card.

15.11 is Crimson. Only ran for a little while, but since I couldn't figure out how to check GPU temp or control fans I shut down collatz and dumped Crimson. I've uninstalled most other software on system, re-installed Intel VGA driver, then re-installed CCC 14.11. No luck.

on Orac with the 7970's I have driver AMD Catalyst 14.12 Omega WHQL (14.501.1003.0 November 20)
C++ has 9 different packages installed 2005 is 64 bit
2008, 2010 and 2012 have both 32 and 64 bit installed. Crunching units in @3 min no issues. GPU's are sitting at 72 - 77 deg C with loading between 85 and 93% Wouldn't want to go higher as the fan noise is already noticable. Much more and it would be annoying, though not as bad as running MW.
On heimdal with 7770 and R9 270 I have AMD Catalyst 15.7.1 as reported by catalyst manager
C++ is the same as orac.
Beagle with 6970 has AMD Catalyst 15.7.1 as reported by catalyst manager. I thought it was 14.12 I had installed so now I'm confused. Both the systems have raptor installed which I can't gey rid of. I wonder if the drivers have updated in the background ?

I was going to mention SDK drivers but beagle doesn't have them installed so can't be that. Try installing both 32 bit and 64 bit C++ and .NET framework 4.5. Also try BOINC 7.6.9, can't do any harm ? That's basically all I have on Beagle and it works straight out the box.

Finally got boiler #1 back online. I think boiler #2 may be ready but the project is apparently mad about all the errored tasks and won't give that system any more work right now. Boilers 3 & 4 are going to have to wait. I'm tired of messing with it.

Get that coal shovelled and those boilers lit. More steam scotty
My nVidias on Linux have picked up no work so they are back on Einstein. Not messing about with a stable linux system for one project especially as I'm not getting any work at all, simply 0 tasks sent.

I wonder who is paying the power bill for some those folks? With those numbers, I have to wonder if those folks have access to data center GPU facilities.

#23 Re: 9/12-16/12 * Duo Centum Quadrigis Provocationes * Collatz Conjecture
They must have, my power bill was bad enough. I've got nearly everything running just now bar a couple of GPU's and the miners but this will not be for much longer. I dread to think what the top performers bills are. Either that or they have a lot of solar panels and or windmills.

Boiler 2 never got past a smolder until this morning, then the fuel ran out. Plenty of coal now. Boilers 3 and 4 lit and all turbines humming. Getting warm in here

Did you figure out the problem or is it just one of those mysterious ' this system wont work ' problems.
All my AMDs are humming in an annoying way. Gave up with the nVidias under Linux, just couldn't get any work .

To get the Nvidia GPUs to run it, all I had to do was install the C++ software. To get the AMD GPUs to run, I had to dump CCC 13.12, install 14.9 and install the C++ software. May not have been the 13.12 version, maybe the order stuff was installed, but using the amdcleanuputility to uninstall all the AMD stuff, install 14.9, then C++ worked.

Missed the part that amdcleanuputility also uninstalled the Intel VGA drivers, so I had to re-install those before the AMD 14.9 install.
