What can I say.......perhaps the phase parameters did not synchronise?

No, but seriously guys: a fairly contested battle with help on all sides. In the end it came down to sheer crunching power, but maybe I should have kept quiet about 64 bit ABC for a month or two longer

Well done Megacruncher! :hello1::hello1::hello1::hello1:

Now, onwards an upwards man ...... toward 6Million and beyond just keep looking over your shoulder!

Thank-you.

At the last check you had already pared my lead back to a meager 2,172  so I'll not be resting on my laurels.

A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT
Actually, I think I shall rest on my laurels. I've made my point, whatever it was, and I have even - just- held onto my lead for over 3 days. Now it is time to free myself from the tyranny of pursuing the top slot in the team.

I got ABC to 1,000,000 today. I've got a fair few 100 WU to finish but won't download anymore - I've done enough for it . I'm just 100K off 1 milllion for QMC so I'll get that there & then pack that in too.

Then I'm going to go all altruistic and get our Rosetta team to the top 100. After that I'll blitz WCG into the same position.

Then I'll come after Nightlord again. Or not.

A very happy New Year to one and all!

Oops wrong thread?

or maybe not......

So a new year brings a new king of the hill, back in his rightful place 8)

But also with the new year comes new challenges, and having got very close to 2Million on ABC, and looking at how long it will take to achieve a top 200 overall place, I have decided to switch to run WCG for a while. After faffing around with BoincView and finding for one reason or another it did not want to allow me to connect the farm to WCG, I have just completed manually running through the attach to Projects wizard on each box. I've set ABC and CPDN to no new work, but I have a few days cache to run down first before the full power is brought to bear.

The effect of this is yet to be seen, but it will be interesting comparing Megacruncher's output from Rosetta to my WGC. Maybe my reign at the top will not be for long?

Whatever happens, prepare for some stomping action in the WCG tables

Thanks for the help Nightlord. Maybe when we get done here we can go help Mega with Rosetta. I have 2 quads working on WCG.

I'm wondering if we can persuade utopia1 to return to WCG, now that help has arrived?

Steady on Nightlord, too much saintliness. Consider the consequences if we both go getting all decent and altruistic and eschew the ill-deserved riches of 64 bit ABC in favour of worthy, but poorly rewarded, stragglers like Rosetta & WCG.

Not only will our own RACs plummet (fair enough that's our choice) but TSBT's will also, and this needs a little more thought. Also we are within a midgie's bawbag of reaching top 10 for ABC and it would be a shame to risk that.

This personal-greed-is-good-for-the-team epiphany hit me this morning as my hungover mind painfully considered that my daily tally has halved recently and the TSBT one has dipped accordingly. I decided that one Quad would be switched back to ABC - tripling its output from 1600 to 5,000 per day. 8) Everything else will continue to do Rosetta with the few QMC & CPDN WUs not being replaced once they have run their lengthy courses. The laptop currently on WCG will be moved to Rosetta as the WCG "holding job" is very well covered and, indeed, has become a blitz on a second front. :D

So I've no wish to see you shy away from WCG (or Rosetta, although you might think you've done your share for this) but spare a thought (or better still a Quad) for ABC and our overall RAC.

Onwards & upwards in 2008.

....and so it begins

But taking heed of the wise old man, I've set a quad back to to 50% share on ABC and will see how it goes.

Still a few days cache left on ABC and a goodly amount of pending credit too before the full thrust of the exhaust vents is brought to bear on WCG

Oops I done it again.

For reasons more to do with the weather in S Lanarkshire than my competitive streak I seem to be TSBT #1 again.

Anyway, tonight I lost a 6000+ to a failed upgrade so that might give Nightlord a chance to recover.

I don't want to be an out & out credit-whore so I've given up ABC. ( I intend no disrespect to you out & out credit-whores still running ABC! )

Instead I'm stepping up Cosmology which is a project I particularly like the science of, and one of the ones I'd quite like to get to 1 million before the year is over - and it's pretty generous with the credits.

Nightlord has out crunched me for 3 days in a row. Are his ambitions to stomp me as active as his profile suggests?

Hah...just a re-alignment for some boxes from WCG. Actually, it might be too much, but then again i do have one box off line just now.

So no worries just yet.....

Oopps where did that little lot come from

Tonight or tomorrow, I should have completed the re-furb of the 32-bit Vista box and release it back to WCG. It will more than double it's previous output, so I may be able to switch another 64bit Linux machine from WCG to ABC without impact.

Do I detect a note of censure? I should record that the phrase "Hairy Kipper" is one favoured by my 8 & 5 year old sons, and is in their youthful, and also my rather more middle aged, innocent usage utterly free of any conotations of hirsute malodorous anatomical entities. :) :?

Anyhoo, the race for the top is hotting up. I am delighted to note that by RAC I only reach 5th place. So my money is on Buster to hit 10 Meg first but I'd quite like to be secomd!
