Saw this over on the SUSA forum. New NCI project, which means it runs like WUProp and uses very little CPU resources. Best anyone can tell, it's main purpose is to earn WUProp hours and stars

http://goofyxgridathome.net/

I've not added TSBT as a team yet. I know you chaps are trying to get consistent team info/branding on the projects.

After Gridcoin Finance, which has a NCI app that does errrr...what does it actually do?, here we have a next shady app:
Some remarks from their homepage:
"GoofyxGrid@Home it's a boinc server for some project which we want to examine"
"Big respect for you guys for join to this project"

And have you looked at the name of the apps?

If you feed them peanuts you get monkeys.... :alien:

Don't let that delay a team creation, if you want to be founder then go for it. We can always update the styles/brand later.

I've requested some more to be able to run my complete fleet of assorted hardware relics. Might be able to get some 50-60 systems running when they comply....
I will need a job at the local power company by then too!

That is including my 80486 era systems (I asked for a FreeDOS 32 bit app too)
I have a RS/6000, so I've asked for AIX as well
And I asked for OS/2 for my PS/2 collection

New GoofyxGrid@Home app, Monkeys v2 - Word seeker, now running. Hope everyone got Monkeys v1 - Random generator to at least 100 hours for a WUProp bronze app.

Update: For the time being, Monkeys v1 - Random generator is still running! Cool, two WUProp apps with little CPU use...SWEET!

Did you have to do anything special Scole or just add the project?
I don't seem to have picked up any units yet.

How long have you had them attached? My didn't pick any up until overnight. If it's been more than 24 hours, try resetting the project or detaching and re-joining.

One of them now has picked up work overnight.
The other one is a bit funny and doesn't seem to like doing anything I want it to, so I just leave it alone crunching enigma. I'll maybe plug in a monitor and see what it's up to.

They are both NCI. I'm getting V3s but haven't gotten any V4 yet. I haven't run them long enough to finish yet.

I checked my stuff. I've been getting them too. A bunch of comp errors on them. I have a handful of V3 that have completed successfully and some V4 that seem to be running ok.

All four run for about the same time and get as much credits as the others (10 per completed WU).

You should have seen my face when I managed to get all active QCN projects (6, also nci), plus WuProp, plus the four Goofyx AND Enigma running on my ARM11 powered Raspberry Pi B+! Too bad I can't yet let the Sensehat talk with QCN, there seems to be a power problem (as in not enough juice).

I wish there were more NCI projects like GoofyGrid where the goal of the project does not necessarily require raw computing power but rather a large population of devices performing low intensity tasks.

Do you have to fire up VM's or will it work by starting multiple clients on the same machine. I know that doesn't work with WUProp but does with most projects, just wondered if it was a project or a NCI thing.

Answered my own question, you can also fire up multiple clients rather than using VM's.
