I'm in the process of tarting up the TSBT website.
Please have a look and be as constructive/brutal in your feed back as you want.

Looks good, although everything seems to be shoved over into a corner.

Still a lot better than a logo half the front page though and i totally agree with you about being a notepad coder.

Thanks guys. I've dropped the thistle -I suppose that sometimes less is more

- and tried to balance the layout a bit.
I'm just uploaded another revision. It's a bit rough & ready & somewhat different in Firefox & IE but I think you'll get the general idea.
Keep the feedback coming. I can take it: Better still I can use it!

Well seeing as how I'm stuck with IE out here.
Layout goes all screwy in IE
Bit's chopped in half and all over the place.
Will check it again later on the laptop with Firefox.
Plus it's all still over to one side.
But other than that the content etc looks good.
Just needs a bit of tweaking to be IE compatible I think.

If you want to see what we're seeing on IE,
look here. Generally: I'm not convinced by the pink/purple header and the stats boxes seem a bit haphazard. That said, it's a good effort and if it continues in this theme it will be a benefit to the team.
On the left format thing; is it designed for a low resolution? It kinda looks like it has a set width specified and that I'm viewing at a higher width - worrying with this computer being my 'low resolution' (ie Work) machine!

Not so sure about the pink header and footer. Also instead of having the menu items on the header, i would put it on the left side going vertically or under the header horizontlly. That make any sense?

Right then: Tada!!
It's wider, I've lost the pink, tidied up the graphics and sexed up the menu.
I still can't figure out how to centre it on the page though!

Aye that's more like it.
Much prefer that layout.
Just a suggestion but it would be nice if the site had the same or a similar background to the Solaris one on here.
Black with the "stars".
Would create a nice joined together feel if that makes sense.

Definitely a winner! The ' joined together feel ' would be nice, but far from required...
Actually, having just tried, you can save the graphic straight from this page.... You may find that it messes up the existing colours though.

Okay I'll try it, In a day or two, although the light on dark look, well as it works for a Forum, sometimes can be a bit dated on a home page.

Works for me. 2 points, the BOINC logo isn't showing (just text saying link to BOINC...) and can you switch it so the forum opens in the same window?
I don't know about others, but I tend to have to go back and close the original because I was finished (hence clicking on the forum!) with the site.

Just a couple of thoughts from me on the black and yellow....it's difficult to read with the font and colours.
Can you try with a larger font size (OK, I know I can increase it with ctrl+, but how many casual browsers will be bothered, and anyway that affects all tabs, not just the difficult to read one.)
Also, could you try it with Verdana font, I think it's currently Arial and that hurts my wee little eyes with that colour scheme!

Logo fixed.
Font. It's supposed to be verdana already.
Font colour. I'll make it white on black for the most part & reserve the yellow for headers & links.
Window behaviour- the problem is the Forum doesn't link back to the website so I thought it was better to leave the website open.

Font Colour: White will (probably) be the same as yellow. I run a different site with a black background and found that light gray (20-25% I think) works very well.
Window Behaviour: I can understand that, and it wasn't a big issue, just a thought.
Snowdog, is it possible (or desired?) to make the flag here link to the main site as a possible solution?

Eh? I've not changed anything since your last comment? Must be your browser! Stand by for the next & for now final version. Just as soon as I've implemented MacDitch's light gray suggestion.
As regards the Stats/projects page thats about to get a major revamp too. As is the FAQ page which will swallow the join page.

I like the latest version of the site. I don't know if you've done anything to the forums as well but they are lightening fast at the moment.
Good work :)

Thanks for the kind feedback.
As regards the Forum I wouldn't dare touch it! If anyone has done anything it must be Colin.
