I just moved over. Meisterfart didn't do anything on NFS yesterday and if they do the same today then I have barely enough finished to pass them for 3 points on the late night update. When CAS runs dry I'll switch back over to NFS.

Project total over 1,033,984, TSBT has 190k, the next closest team, meisterfart, only 20k. I predict another 1st :D , though it makes me mad they will reap 18 points with a measly 20k. Maybe we need to encourage UBT and AMD Users into going for 2nd and 3rd?

Change your team to UBT and I can change my team to AMD Users and the problem is solved

That would work, but too soon for that option.

Probably a mistake but I tossed OcUK a bone and mentioned CAS. Either they go for it or they don't. I'm trying put a diplomatic foundation in place. I'm not sure we can hold them off for the the long haul. They have decent size team with some big crunchers. I hate to play for 2nd, but it would be suicide to try to win 1st and get promoted to league 1. I say let them have it. I'm hoping we can agree to not compete on certain projects so we have an easier time holding 2nd. CAS is different right now though. Just a little effort and they can take 2nd from meister, then go back their other project priorities. If they decide to go for it, they have to pull away from something else and we'll go after that.

I agree with your assessment. I don't really think you can take the top spot from them on the long run. Over a very short period it might be possible but I think they have more firepower available. They did a really good job of chewing into the 1.2M lead we had on NFS. Of course while they were doing that we jumped them by 1.1M on dDM. They have 4.5M on NumberFields, 4.5M Climate, 3M SAT, 7M Enigma ..... so they have put up some really strong numbers in 2 months. We could take 1 or 2 projects from them and they would have a hard time answering it, but while we did that they would just continue to move away on everything else.

So I think the goal is the make sure that Meisterfart is covered and at every chance take points from them.

Even if by some miracle we did get first place in the entire league, we would not be promoted as long as we do not have the required RAC in November to be in league one. Easy enough to avoid as we are nowhere close, would need to really hit collatz for all we can or similar high paying project on the GPU's as BU RAC is not counted.

OcUK has some fanatics. BaBa is building a quad E7-4890 cruncher. That's 120 threads...

And his other systems...

WOW! Boy that would be fun to play with!

I wonder if he knows he could get a 30% boost in performance using Linux on Universe.

That's pretty much my thoughts too.
Buying the toys isn't too bad its the rubbing costs that hurt.

Yes, looks like a lot of my toys will now be based on Android or the very low powered boards available from AMD.

If you got one of these "Tsinghua Nano Tech" then yes they take a very long time. The server is saying the average is 346 hours. Those are fairly hard to come by and great for WuProp hours.

The other ones only take about an hour.

Thanks Bryan and Scole. It is indeed one of the Tsinghua Nano Tech Research units, i'll let it run and see how it goes.
I just didn't want to waste time if it was a dodgy one that wasn't going to do anything.

And CAS appears to pay much better on Win64

EDIT: It runs better on Win64 on Ivy Bridge/Sandy Bridge CPUs but better on linux on the Nehalem CPUs.

EDIT: And they're all gone! Maybe a few resends going out though.

EDIT: But they keep coming...

Just saw this message on a system that won't download any more CAS WUs...
18136 CAS@home 9/15/2016 9:56:09 AM This computer has finished a daily quota of 20 tasks

I have other systems that are similar but don't seem to have the same issue. Odd :?

I saw that on a machine yesterday.

The GREAT news is they are out of WU ... there are 27000 WU waiting for validation so the server is somewhat overwhelmed at this point.

Check out how many WUs you have in the Validation Pending queue. I had over 4000 earlier. Still have over 2800 but they're starting to pay.

I have 2700 pending ... maybe they learned their lesson and will not issue new batches until they finish with the backend stuff. I've run all the CAS I want to run for a while.

Hot off the press at SAT@home

No new tasks temporarily
Work generetor was temporarily stopped. We are going to move the project to a new sever approximately in November, so we need all tasks to be processed. Read more at: http://sat.isa.ru/pdsat/all_news.php#122

Guess it will depend on when in November new tasks appear. Might be before FB finishes in which case we might have to fight this yet.

Wishful thinking ... I'm hoping CAS goes dormant for the next 2 1/2 months. It sure would make things easier.
