Get your lattice while it lasts. Lots of work right now.

Beware of rogue WUs. They get to 11.75 complete and go no further. Someone asked about these on the message board but no answer if they are valid or not. I'm aborting all the WUs that appear to be in this state.
#3 Re: Lattice
If you check those units you will find that they have failed time and time again but they keep being reissued. I've had quite a few cluttering up my schedular

Oh well, aborted now and I'll keep an eye on what happens now....

The program I've been working on will update projects and abort lattice WUs stuck at 11.75%. Takes a little config but it prevents cores wasting time on the lattice wus. Let me know if anyone wants to run. It requires a JRE (java runtime environment) to be installed.

Anyone else having problems uploading and download lattice work? The website it up but I have a ton of completed work that won't upload.
#7 Re: Lattice
Same problem, the server says the feeder isn't running.

Looks like it's back on!
#9 Re: Lattice
Yeh, but I'm seeing about 50% computational failures. Looking at the WU they've failed on 5-6 machines prior so it appears they are sending a bunch of bad WU.

#10 Re: Lattice
I only run it under linux. Still get a few but not too many. Wouldn't waste the effort under trying to run it under windows. I get mostly computation errors under win 7 64.
#11 Re: Lattice
I'm running it pure Linux. Most of them were in that 1st batch it sent after they started back up. You'd think the project would quit sending the WU after 4-5 machines have failed on it and no machine has managed to actually complete it.
The server is starting to wind down on available WU ... right now only showing 5500 left.
The next update and it should go live ... 50k remaining to 2M That'll be 25 points for the good guys!

#12 Re: Lattice
Been getting a bunch of very short running Lattice WUs today too.
#13 Re: Lattice
Same here. A small percentage of them are the regular WU but the vast majority last a few seconds.

#14 Re: Lattice
Don't give up on Lattice WUs. With coaxing of their server I continue to get bursts of WUs throughout the day. Some are the bad ones that must be abort after a couple hours but keep the door open. They're adding up.
#15 Re: Lattice
LHC just released some work .. I managed to get 10% of what they had. I had one machine that got 839 of the WU w/o extensions so I aborted them. Now the server is pissed and won't give me any more work on that machine. I'll let the machine sit idle before I run WU that take 4X the normal time to crunch - a matter of principle.
I'll see if I can grab some Lattice on it.

#16 Re: Lattice
We should be careful about aborting long running WUs. Here's one that ran over 2 days but finished, validated on two other systems and paid better than the short WUs...

Make sure it's a stinker before you kill it.

I just got 250 WU on 1 machine and 100 on another. They have "initial" in the WU name and appear to be very long running WU. I sure hope they are good ... I'd sure hate to invest the amount of time they are going to take and then have them fail.
EDIT: Lattice WU are crawling all over every machine shutting down Enigma. I hope this is what will finally gets us over the hump and into 1st

I still have 487 507 in progress.
EDIT: Even if I can't finish them, at least the other team doesn't have them.

On a 4.2G I7 the completion went from 5% to 9.5% at the 40 minute mark. So the completion counter does change. I guess they are very very long WU.
I have 918 on the machines ... so far.

#20 Re: Lattice
I just had a batch of them get aborted by my wumanager because the progress didn't change within 15 minutes. Upping the time to 60 120 minutes.

Dontcha hate when that happensscole250 wrote:I just had a batch of them get aborted by my wumanager because the progress didn't change within 15 minutes. Upping the time to 60 120 minutes.
On the I7, 60% @ the 2 hour mark. So not horrible. Definitely faster on Linux than Windows. Of course I have all but 1 machine on Windows now. @ 2 1/2 hour mark Linux is at 45% and Windows is 36% ... identical machines.

#22 Re: Lattice
Well it looks like somebody killed the Lattice server. I just wanted it to run out of work. I'm stuck with completed work that won't upload though. It better not time them out.
#23 Re: Lattice
So I can kill the Garli units running for 1 day plus. That's a win for me.

#24 Re: Lattice
The server is working again, but I'm like you and can't stand to see WUs run forever. I killed mine.
#25 Re: Lattice
Looks like they cancelled all running units via the server. At least I got WUprop hours but not happy that units run for 2 days and then get cancelled.
