Glad you posted about this. I tried to get work yesterday (when it was first posted) but there was none available and I assumed that the months quota had already gone! I've just tried again and managed to get a few this time; they must have been posting them piecemeal. According to the server page there are about 9300 left...

All work from Simap seems to go out on the 1st of the month.

I grabbed about 100 units :)

considering there are some serious players grabbing a lot of units, we can probably gain quite a lot if we play it stratigically

I fancy trying a new project so have just grabbed myself about 300 units to try to crunch through in next few days.

I got some. Just 39 but it's better than nothing and we are as well to keep as far away from the precipice as possible.

Never heard of them, what are they? :P

BoincStats should cope ok as long as:
  1. the e-mail is the same
  2. the password is the same (if using BAM!)
  3. SIMAP is run alongside another project on at least one machine.
Welcome aboard the simap scrambles tho
I'll second that - welcome to the monthly mad scramble. :)

Spent half an hour last night trying to download some for my (offline) work computer. Not a sausage was forthcoming despite a reported ~9000 waiting to be sent!

I tried late last night and got plenty work. I just set my preferences in BOINC manager to downloaed extra work for 10 days work.

Straight away it gave me another 400 odd units, so I I've had a total of 691 unit of which should give us about another 11,000 onto our total. So far I have done about 170 so far so another 3-4 days should finish that then it it will be back to WCG for me.

SIMAP appears to have added a further 125k workunits today (8-Sep), and there are still about 300k of last weeks addition to be crunched...

In other words, more than 400,000 work units available now.

MacDitch.

PS. At least reaching 50k should be easy for me with this much work. :)

Erm, I think you'll find that it was a tad more than 400k...
December 14, 2008
New Workunits: an additional batch of workunits has been started for the calculation of similarities and features of approx. 1.500.000 new sequences, that were imported from metagenomes.
This is (probably) over and above the monthly work, so there should be plenty for a week or two yet. :)

...After a brief spell at no.74 looks we got stomped all over by PC Perspective Killer Frogs who seemed in a big hurry to go places... whatever it is they were running away from was probably large, hairy, french and armed with a frying pan!

Oh well, back to no.75 which is where we started the round.... :grommit:

At least we are well clear of 100th. Still it would be nice to amass at least 1,000,000 credits for this project - we have
I've not crunched it for 15 months now and I think I've missed the boat for this round. But I'll attach all my crunchers to it so they can catch it next time. As a personal goal I'd quite like to beat 100,000 credits for it.

The main consolation is that the Killa Fwogs missed out on it entirely which means we are a little closer.... :evil4:

The main thing is we grabbed at least our share, moving us up 1 place to 70th in Simap. Over the last week we did better than all but 31 other teams. :D

To be fair to the Killer Frogs they do seen to have given up for this one. :(

I just set up my preferences for 10 days worth, and got a bucket load of simap WU's, not sure how many at present, but a rough guesstimate is at least a couple of hundred WU's.

Update...Maxed out at 240 WU's, presumably I may get more as they are completed. if any left :D

Correct, and, Boinc manager downloaded a few more as others were completed :) Boinc manager messages logged the last WU download @ 12:46 today. So still has WU's as I type.
