But so intermittent! Were it not for Milkyway being as dead as a Dodo, which has been exhumed and had all its DNA denatured to prevent cloning, Collatz would be looking like a poor choice. As it is GPUGrid or even the gpu version of Seti must be considered ripe for comebacks by any GPU cruncher.

I am watching very closly as it seems I have not been credited for 131 + 148 acknowledged results so far today.
I do not mind if the very occasional one goes walk about but 279 WU's, that's more than a tad worrying.
As for it takes 2 weeks to get some new HD's on MW well obviously it takes the man with the very special screwdriver to fit them and he's on holiday as well by the looks of it.

Just in case anyone has a Mac OS X with an Nvidia Card and Cuda driver recently updated to v3.2. Current standard/optimised cuda apps for Collatz only support cuda v2.2 and cuda v3.1:
There is now an app for Collatz Cuda and the v3.2 driver which seems to work OK (Thanks to Crunch3r). Please see the following post on the message board for the download link:

I have taken the "opportunity" to crunch some other projects. Although it does mean my daily output has somewhat gone down the tubes

The following message posted by Slicker:
The Collatz server is currently down due to a hard drive controller failure. New hardware should arrive in the next day or two. A complete rebuild of the operating system, BOINC, and the Collatz software and project setup will then need to be done prior to the project coming back online. As this will be a complete rebuild, there is no sense hanging on to any completed workunits at this time. So, go ahead and abort any workunits you have whether they are complete or not. I expect the project will remain down for the next 10-15 days while I set it all back up and test it. Sorry for any inconvenience. And yes, I will make up for the lost credits once everything is back up and running.

Looks like Collatz is back up with a few caveats.
Only Solo is available and only for opencl. By trial and error I had to remove and add Collatz again to the project list..
You get a signing error with the server if you don't.
Took me about an hour to do 6 machines. Good luck.
There is a spiel on the home page you might want to read.

Glad they are making progress.
It looks like they are still down this morning. I can't load their website or connect via BOINC.

Been working with jon at collatz all afternoon trying to get a working solocollatz version running on linux with nVidia cards. Is anyone else on here running that combination ?
I'm running ubuntu 13.10 with nvidia 319.6 drivers and lubuntu 13.10 with nvidia 304 and now 319.6 drivers. All forms of openCL driver issues with the app or am I in the minority ?

Fingers crossed you can find a solution!

Just a warning/reminder to all you guys that had app or configuration files for Collatz.
My ones had disappeared, I presume it was deleting and re attaching the project. I noticed i was no longer reserving a core for Collatz and that my units were a lot slower than they were pre crash so did some checking and discovered the missing files.

You haven't un-selected Solo in your Collatz account preferences have you? If you can't get Collatz, there's a Milkyway challenge in progress

Is there any news in the Notices tab of your Boinc Manager mentioning any scheduled down time? Could always be something unexpected.
#30 Re: Collatz
The server is down, they have had outages in the past and what usually seems to happen is that as soon as their admin guy goes away something goes pear shaped!robmacagain wrote:Anyone know whats happening with this, it's been down for 36 hours and I have over 100 wu's to go
The good thing about collatz is that they have always sorted outstanding/crunched credit if they've had problems.
I'd just crunch them Rob and they'll sit in your upload queue till the server is back up, doubt you'd loose anything.
