#1 The ultimate crunching rig...

Post by scole of TSBT »

If you could build the ultimate crunching rig, what would it be? This is for fun, but I do have a 1 in 175,223,510 chance of winning the Powerball Jackpot twice a week and if I happen to hit it, I want to be prepared for building the ultimate crunching rig. I'm an optimist :D So, help me configure a rig. One I (we) can have fun building. If I ever hit the Jackpot, you get the same components shipped to you.

This is a living list. I'll update it as needed, but I have to start somewhere. I want a balanced rig. Good CPU, AMD GPU and Nvidia GPU power.

Processor: Xeon i7-5960X, 16 threads, 3.0Ghz, 2133Mhz memory, 40 PCIe lanes
Motherboard: ASUS Rampage V Extreme, X99 chiptset, PCIe x16-x16-x16
GPU 1: AMD HD 7990 or R9 295x2?
GPU2: Nvidia Titan Z Hydro
Memory: 32 GB G.SKILL F4-3000C15Q2-32GRK
Disk drives:
PSU: Corsair AX1500i
Case:
CPU cooling block: EK water block kit (CPU, X99 chip and VRUs)
Radiators:
Pump/resevoir:
OS: Dual boot linux and Windows (Win 7 or 8.1) 64 bit of course

I built my gaming rig in 28th October 2013, I hav'nt changed a thing its over clocked to 4.2ghz with 32GB of corsair ram with SSD and 4TB HDD more than enough power to get crunching or high end gaming either way with fully water cooled CPU and GPU it makes for some really sweet cool running.

P.s this video was shot before I did cable management.
p.p.s we all love pictures but video is just a bit more personal.

Nice bit of kit.

I'm loving the front panel.

Yea the 5 Fan Headers control upto 5 fans at the same time and also upto 5 temp probes, as you can see in the video its showing pump speed on number 4.

Yea nice piece of kit I thought i'd get that since I was already paying thousands on computer kit why scrimp on a header controller.
