The founder of Antarctic Crunchers will get a notification via Bam and BOINC if they pay any attention. After that it's up to them to sign their team up to the competition. Unfortunately, much like FB, most teams are ignorant of Bam challenges or simply exist within their own bubble only.

We shall see. If they commit they can be more than a handful. Tng's output about equals Gregg's.

So, it’s a PG challenge, but being held under Boincstats rules?
That means that bunkering is allowed and will count?

Yes. It's a BOINC Stats Team Challenge hosted by BOINC Stats where PG is the project, not a PG Project Challenge hosted by PG

BTW, if any wishes to help BOINC Stats financially, click on an ad link whenever you check on the challenge. I believe they earn revenue when the ad is displayed and again if someone clicks on an ad link

@Megacruncher there is a primegrid challenge on PSP-LLR that runs at about the same time, but that is not the same as our challenge which is a straight up BOINCStats challenge. Bunker away .

For info only.
https://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=9720
Welcome to the Once in a Blue Moon Challenge

The sixth challenge of the 2021 Series will be a 10-day challenge leading up to a relatively rare astronomical event called a blue moon. The challenge will be offered on the PSP-LLR application, beginning 12 August 20:00 UTC and ending 22 August 20:00 UTC.

Once in a blue moon
What if, you can rewrite history?
He asked

For sure
I'll turn it into a fairy tale
He replied

The phrase "blue moon" has actually changed in meaning over the past century. Before the mid-1900s, it simply referred to an impossible event, similar to "when pigs fly". The modern definition of "the second full moon in a calendar month" only became widespread due to a series of misinterpretations in a farmer's almanac, a popular radio show, and funny enough, an edition of the game Trivial Pursuit.

A blue moon happens about once every 2.7 years on average, although the last one was on October 31, 2020. The last PSP prime was found about 3.8 years ago. COINCIDENCE?? (I tried.) Either way, with any luck we can knock out another k-value from the Prime Sierpinski Problem, and prove PSP's to be an (almost) Once in a Blue Moon occurrence.

To participate in the Challenge, please select only the Prime Sierpinski Problem LLR (PSP) project in your PrimeGrid preferences section.

Note on LLR2 tasks: LLR2 has eliminated the need for a full doublecheck task on each workunit, but has replaced it with a short verification task. Expect to receive a few tasks about 1% of normal length.

Application builds are available for Linux 32 and 64 bit, Windows 32 and 64 bit and MacIntel. Intel and recent AMD CPUs with FMA3 capabilities (Haswell or better for Intel, Zen-2 or better for AMD) will have a very large advantage, and Intel CPUs with dual AVX-512 (certain recent Intel Skylake-X and Xeon CPUs) will be the fastest.

Note that LLR is running the latest AVX-512 version of LLR which takes full advantage of the features of these newer CPUs. It's faster than the previous LLR app and draws more power and produces more heat, especially if they're highly overclocked. If you have certain recent Intel Skylake-X and Xeon CPUs, especially if it's overclocked or has overclocked memory, and haven't run the new AVX-512 LLR before, we strongly suggest running it before the challenge while you are monitoring the temperatures.

Multi-threading is supported and IS recommended. (PSP tasks on one CPU core will take 3-4 days on fast/newer computers and 2 weeks+ on slower/older computers.)

That's all very well if you want to meet single Russian women. Or is it just me who sees those ads?

Also you you could just send them [BOINCstats, not the Russian ladies  ] some money/crypto.

https://www.boincstats.com/page/donate

You'll get a mention and the option of switching off the ads altogether.

Disappointingly, all my GPU's have run out of work on sieve and wall. BOINC manager simply did not download enough to keep them fed for a bunker drop. CPU's still busy, but obviously not where the points are. Going to try and stay up to open network communication at the start of the challenge in an hour and a bit, then I will be running open.
Good luck to those of us on it. I'm sure a few of the usual suspects will be in the top echelons.

@scole of TSBT , not really any more. I used to on the servers etc. but since they are all dead and I only have the 5 systems now, 2 of which are brand new, plus I'd fallen out of love with competing I don't bother. Was racing again this weekend so didn't have time to set up, plus just can't be arsed with switching keyboards etc.
Not the most efficient way I know, but there again, given the systems and GPU's I have left I don't tend to attempt much of a bunker. My efforts towards the team competitions are more background these days than the numbers you guys are putting up, so not really a great loss team wise.

I used to do most stuff from my laptop, but since my work got ransomwared at the start of the year they are paranoid about our laptops ( despite the intrusion coming from office worker based clicking ..... ) Having FTP software to transfer to the server is sailing very close to the wind as it is. I don't even have BOINC on the laptop anymore. I was going to set up BOINC on linux through Hyper V, just need to confirm that the anti virus / snooping ware crap they use can't see inside a Hyper V VM. Naughty I know :D

My colab sessions are run like this: 3 hours start between 08:00-09:00 (GMT) and 3 hours start run between 21:00-22:00 (GMT). 700k pending. Should average a 700k per day. Not much but it’s the least I can do.

TSBT pulling ahead in the challenge now and quite a few of the team in the top 100. @Granowski and @Miklos M trading blows for top dog and valterc from BOINC.Italy keeping them both very honest. A great start. So far , so good ......

Noticed that although the sieve tasks pay slightly better, Wieferich and Wall-Sun-Sun tasks validate with very few pendings, probably because @Granowski is my wingman on so many :D

@davidBAM I want to get to 1billion on primegrid, but regardless, please stick my rented GPU on @Miklos M account please. A 1 - 2 on a challenge we called would be quite satisfying .

My remaining GPU are rented on WCG - this isn't an FB challenge so I couldn't, in all fairness, pull them for it

How do older AMD do on PrimeGrid? rx570 / rx580

I've no idea, but as Primegrid is not FP64 I'd doubt they would do much worse than my GTX 980's etc.

Okay - have dropped what I had on 2070 Super and then gone dark again. This will let me see accurate deadlines for each bunker - and accurate timings too as some were only 2-up while I was clearing YoYo. Will check it over in the morning

5 of the top 6 places would be a great result for the team ... with Marathon Man at #1 of course
I think this is fool-proof but could you just try it for me please? • There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary, and those who don’t

The lead is now 200M - apply these to the FB Marathon and we should be within a baw-hair of 1Bn for the 25pt spot. I expect SG will dig very deep to stay there though. They are after a podium place themselves
