It's all done with smoke and mirrors I'm trying to improve my image but unfortunately too many people actually know me
Gerasim challenge frm Colombia Team
#22 Re: Gerasim challenge frm Colombia Team
It looks like CoolAtchOk may be waving the white flag. His output has really dropped off I've seen him do that in the past where it became apparent that Russia Team wasn't going to win.

I think this is fool-proof but could you just try it for me please? • There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary, and those who don’t

Hey I broke into the top 20 on the challenge today
#25 Re: Gerasim challenge frm Colombia Team
Congrats, that is a great accomplishment. BUT, it looks like you will probably move up higher than that before it is over

I selected only spstarter WU on advice but perhaps better to hear from an expert

Cheers might give that a go
#30 Re: Gerasim challenge frm Colombia Team
I run only the spstarter WU because they have a fairly consistent run times. I've seen Test Separator WU that are very short and the more times the BOINC Client has to load/unload WU the less time it spends crunching. I don't really know how much difference it makes (if any) but I stick with the spstarter WU.
If you calculate the credits/day and don't figure in "dead time" then they pay exactly the same.
My machines are also 64 thread. When running that many threads I've had problems in the past where test separator WU were so short I had trouble getting WU quick enough to keep all threads busy. The project will only give something like 160 WU at a time.
IMHO of course

Looks like we might get a 1, 2, 4 individual placing if @scole of TSBT and @Gibson Praise can hold off their challengers. Awesome stuff guys

Well done guys.
I'm in there as well, sort of, in 47th. But every little helps and I'll try and improve my standing over the next 62hrs.
Clearly TSBT have smashed this challenge out of the park. But it's doing our FB prospects no end of good as well. I think we can be pretty sure that we'll hold onto our third place whatever the rest of 2020 brings.

CoolAtchOk has conceded defeat & has decided to try to get Crystal Dream up the leader board

No
His personal score exceeds Crystal Dream's team score so older points will stay with the team he was on when he earned them

Ugh... If you've been running Gerasim I suggest you reboot your system as soon as your work is done. All my win systems were flaky. Had to reset a couple.

ty .. one of my systems had to reboot a couple of days ago. Went weird, would not bring up task manager, took three reboots to come up correctly ( a blue screen made a brief appearance ). I thought karma was telling me to convert to linux right there and then ( and that is still an ongoing argument ).scole of TSBT wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2020 1:58 am Ugh... I'll be rebooting those boxes and recommend it to others.

Woodles from UBT did well also. He lurks here sometimes
EDIT: could be coincidence but one of my servers won't boot to linux now, which is the default OS. It's stuck on windows until after the sprint and I can fix. Probably a reinstall of linux.

Well done, a pretty conclusive margin
Purely accidental, I'm running Gerasim for a while anyway and didn't realise there was a sprint on.
