Genuine constructive question, by the way, albeit from a Linux snob who makes schoolboy errors on Windows

Why would I run Windows on a machine dedicated to Boinc?
  1. Gerasim only runs on Windows
  2. NFS scores a little higher
  3. AMD drivers are easier / better

  • It installs so easy on Windows
  • You do not need to bother with additional 32-bits libraries, dependencies, etc. whatsoever

For most, doze is the default so appeals to the masses, plus no command line inputs unless you actually know what an operating system is. I use both, they are equal and equivalent. Doze plus nix under vbox is probably the default for most. The most surprising thing is that most people have android on their phones, which is nix, but feel most comfortable with doze on laptops etc, which is an approximation of nix / android. Humans .....
