#1 Posting, pm's and such
Can any of you mods have a look into what is happening re posts etc, i am having to attempt to post stuff 3/4/5 times before they show up, i have also sent a few pm's and there not being received, its getting a little frustrating.
#2 Re: Posting, pm's and such
I've had the same problem trying to post as Rob.
Typed a post, hit submit and it goes back to first post of the thread I'm in. Try a couple of times and I can usually get it to work.
Just did the same trying to post this reply.

It's in hand. Everyone is having the issue, not just you guys. Our ' IT ' guy will fix when he has decent access hopefully .

Happened to me once after tapping out a long Recent Milestones post. I've learned to copy the message before I submit so I don't have to retype it.
#5 Re: Posting, pm's and such
You can also use the back button and then resubmit until it works. PITA but hopefully fixed within a week.

That's what I've started to do too.scole250 wrote: I've learned to copy the message before I submit so I don't have to retype it.
It's a bit of a pain but it's not the end of the world. Nice to know it's not just me being stupid though!
Glad to hear the tech crew are on the case - do we get an I.T. call reference number?

I am several days from dry land and broadband. The weekend is a safe'ish bet for me getting home.
A look around the admin tool shows no changed settings and no errors in the various logs. I still think it is down to hosting issues. I don't think it is anything to do with our code or settings.
Willie, would you raise a support ticket? It could be poor coms between the web server and the mysql server.

OK, it is definitely a hosting issue.
Continuous ping and DNS lookups both show intermittent connection failures.
Willie, would you please raise a ticket with support?

I've made a few tweaks to settings.
The important one for this discussion would be that I have turned off auto detection of the forum address and set it to http://www.dunadd.co.uk/seti/forum. This might help - if the issue has anything to do with DNS. It does appear, to me, to have improved connection reliability.
Please report any new issues.

Only just discovered this thread. Again I'm relieved to discover it's not just me. I'll let Easyspace know there's a problem. Any advice on exactly how I should describe it?

This is still nuts. I just posted 3 reply's in the Crazy Stuff section and it took me 9 tries to get them to take.
This looks like a database issue to me. Something is corrupted.

If the database is MYSQL then it needs to be shutdown, including the mysqld service, and restarted. MYSQL will re-establish it's links and all should be okay.

What access or features do you have to the website? Is there some type of control panel or admin page?

The answer here is to wait for the support ticket to be answered and acted on. We do not have the information / admin tools to actually see what is going on... unless Willie has an admin tool I've never seen.
The website is hosted on a virtualhost and there is a separate, shared, database server.I have noted connectivity issues between the two servers on occasions and I think this is the cause.
A year or so ago I changed from a named mysql server to an IP address and this resolved a lot of the posting lag.

Every now and again, the ping time jumps to 250ms or more and it is during these times that posted messages vanish.

I'm still waiting on support.
Just glad that I don't have to do anything tricky. :)

The word is that they can't find a fault but can migrate the hosting to another server if problems persist.

This thing is acting up again. It seems to be when posting with the Quick Reply. The regular reply seems to be okay.

Does it on the regular posting to and on pm's. Sometimes have to use the back button and submit 3 - 5 times, other times goes through straight away.

I'm not sure I should jinx it but I've found it a lot better the last few days
#26 Re: Posting, pm's and such
It is better for sure, couple of weeks ago it was every post. Now it does it every now and again.

They did the migration about a week ago.
Since then it's seemed okay, to me, not that I've been posting loads.
Any other experiences?
