#1 Getting On The Forum
Welcome!
Over the years we have had problems with spam bots. For almost two years we have been using a Question and Answer challenge and so far this has been very successful at preventing spam bots. A few spammer accounts have been created (manually?) so we have added another layer of security to lock our private member areas to human-approved authentication.
How Registration Works
Register and the forum will send you an email. Click the validation link in the email and then login to the forums. At which stage you can create new posts and join in the banter.
Team Membership
Once registered, you will be able to see our private team areas but will not be able to read the contents. To request access, go to your "User Control Panel" and click on the "Usergroups" tab. Then select the "TSBT Active Members" or "TSBT Friends" group, as appropriate, and request to join. A forum admin will approve your request in due course.
If you have issues joining then either post on the open guest forum or use the contact us form hereand an email will be sent to me. - Alez

Hi Guys no speak for a long time.
Re picked up your site from Mega posting on CPDN so thought I'd pop over and see how you are doing. All online forums seem to have slowed in the last few years since the BBC (no friend of mine) finished their involvement a general decline has set in coupled with the financial downturn which started to hit people directly diverting their minds elsewhere.
Good fortune to all.

All of a sudden there are certain threads I can't get into. eg. the no stinkin' badges thread.
Says I don't have the privs.
There are a couple more, but most seem accessible

That's a new sub-forum that I think Alez may have been setting up earlier, but posted he had limited bandwidth and perhaps didn't get it finished.

Looks like a config issue on the server. Maybe a permissions/group issue on the file/file path - or perhaps a newly installed module on the server. Not something I can fix. We will need a support ticket to the server admins... over to you Willie.

I would like to blame Alez (he being the current whipping boy, aka points leader) but it is definitely down to a server config issue.

Much strangeness. Even creating a new forum with various levels of permissions (including full open) results in errors. It has to be down to server config settings - which I don't have the admin tools to see.

After deleting the lot and starting clean it could be working. Please report any errors.
I suspect it was down to an incomplete transaction which caused a duplicate ID for the new forum.

Can the sub-forum name be changed from "Shameless badges bragging thread" (because that's the name of a thread in that sub-forum) to what was originally being used, was it "Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges!"

Hmmm ... I've had to piggy back a vsat to an IP in the states just to refute these slanderous accusations. I can get into both new forums I set up ( seems I have permission ) so don't see what all the fuss is about . Have gone in and changed and re-saved the permissions. Could someone else try and get into either badges or the milestone forum and let me know if it works now ?Janos wrote:I would like to blame Alez (he being the current whipping boy, aka points leader) but it is definitely down to a server config issue.

I've just managed to post in the bragging thread, so looks good to me.
Any idea when you're going to get home Alez?
#24 Re: Getting On The Forum
So I haven't broken it .... Mr Scole , yeah of little faith. Seems when I set up the forums and lost the connection it locked the permissions of the forum to me only, so I guess when I logged in again it reset Janos's hard work and reverted it to my permissions again. All should be good now I hope. If not then let me know and I will stay out of Admin whilst Janos sorts out my mess, again .... sorry dude.
No idea on return. Few more weeks at least.

Instructions updated (post 1).
We have added two new groups: TSBT Members and TSBT Friends and have locked down the private areas of the forum to these groups.
