#1 5/5-19/5 8th Annual Boinc Pentathlon
https://www.seti-germany.de/boinc_penta ... athlon.php
As far as I'm concerned this is the big kahuna of team challenges. Only the larger, more organized teams ever compete with a chance for a podium finish (GC is not one of them oddly enough...not organized. Un-Borg like really). TSBT has not registered for this challenge but some of us are going to join SETI.USA for it. If any TSBT members want TSBT to register and participate, by all means let us know. Otherwise, if anyone wishes to participate in mixing it up with the titans of DC, I invite you to join SETI.USA for the challenge. The format of the challenge is kind of unique. You can read more about it at the link above.
For those who are going to join SETI.USA, I plan to post updates in this thread to let folks know which projects are chosen, when they start and which projects need to be pushed. At some point during the challenge there will be 2 or maybe even 3 projects being worked on. Bunkering is a huge part of this challenge too, so if you're up for the effort working on bunker before the start of the challenge is a big help. If you are already a registered member of the SETI.USA forum you can always go there for more details on strategy.
The first project should be announced in about a week. Stay tuned!

BTW...I can't do this because I'll be crunching elsewhere, but if anyone got the itch to register TSBT for the Pentathlon, I might recommend SRBase, Amicable Numbers, TN-Grid, WCG FAAH. Just say'n...
#3 Re: 5/5-19/5 8th Annual Boinc Pentathlon
If I register us then I will be committed to crunching for TSBT, like last year. Outwith those of us who will cross the pond for the duration, I very much doubt there is an appetite for me to sign up TSBT. Also going to move thread to active comps which is not open to public view outwith the team.

The Marathon project is Cosmology. Load up!
And the WCG project is Zika!
And the WCG project is Zika!
#6 Re: 5/5-19/5 8th Annual Boinc Pentathlon
Is the wcg only zika ?

Only Zika will be counted
#8 Re: 5/5-19/5 8th Annual Boinc Pentathlon
So far it seems that it's
Cosmology - 5/5 -19/5
WCG zika - 5/5 - 10/5
Einstein - 9/5 - 14/5
For cosmology I'm getting no task available .... Where do you guys want me ? Zika I guess ?

If you can't get Cosmo, go for Zika. And bunker Einstein if you can.
#10 Re: 5/5-19/5 8th Annual Boinc Pentathlon
I'm stuck out in the sea on a rig with the most damned awful internet outside of Africa. Will not be able to bunker etc.
Away to set my WCG over to SUSA and make a start from there.

WCG Zika is under control for now. We could use a push on cosmology if you can manage it. FYI...they have legacy WUs which don't require vbox and docker and planck WUs which do require vbox and will use all cores available unless configured otherwise. So if you don't want to mess with vbox or managing those WUs, crunch legacy. Only downside is legacy doesn't pay as well.
#12 Re: 5/5-19/5 8th Annual Boinc Pentathlon
At the moment it's zika on droids etc and building pendings on einstein I hope. I have a feeling cosmo produced nothing but errors with v box on my systems whereas other vbox projects work fine on my systems but as the pay has always been trash I never bother trying to fix it.

If you don't want to mess with Cosmo, ZIka is still fine to crunch. Still 4 days left in that discipline.

And SETI.USA could use any help on Einstein they can get. They've lit the Beacons of Gondor. Megacruncher, will you answer the call?
#15 Re: 5/5-19/5 8th Annual Boinc Pentathlon
Will move some of my cpu's over to building pendings on Einstein from Zika. All my working ATI's are on Einstein. Think Zika is safe, but let me know if need to go back. All droids will be left on Zika. Looks like I have lost 1 or 2 of them though.

The 4th project is LHC Nobody is happy about this. Atlas pays best but you can't bunker it. You can load it but you can't run it unless it can phone home. Sixtrack is the only project you can bunker.
Again, if anyone wants to crunch Einstein for the Yanks, that's what they need the most. The Einstein segment begins on May 9th 00:00 UTC.

Moved my Einstein account over to Susa now. Left droids on Zika, moved GPU's and servers over to Einstein. Work plus pendings only I'm afraid but better than nothing.
Projects so far for those following this
Cosmology - 5/5 -19/5
WCG zika - 5/5 - 10/5
Einstein - 9/5 - 14/5
LHC@Home - 12/5 - 19/5
At the end of the zika phase will move my droids back to TSBT as they are of no use on any of the other projects announced. Probabily leave on Zika though and go for 10 year badge.
Gridcoin getting humped I'm pleased to see. Guess that's the difference between a real team and some mercenaries.
OcUK doing really well to. If I wasn't on Susa would help them out to beat GC.

Things looking a little bit more healthy for susa at the start of the Einstein leg.

That's the OpenZika part finished with Susa in 1st place. Well done guys.

Droids are now idle on pentathlon, any hints what last project is ?
Also CPU's and GPU's on Einstein. Do you want me to stay there or switch some cpu's to LHC ?

The Swimming discipline, LHC, doesn't start for 3.5 more days. If you can bunker sixtrack, do that. Otherwise, I'd run Cosmo. They still have legacy WUs if you don't have vbox set up. The vbox WUs are multi-threaded too so be careful running them
#22 Re: 5/5-19/5 8th Annual Boinc Pentathlon
I'm not touching cosmo at least until I get home. Project has always been a disaster zone for me.
Will just keep munching away on Einstein until I see what the 5th project is as I know that is working well on my systems and hopefully making a positive contribution.
Might be back home friday night, if that's the case will look at changing stuff over then.

SUSA needs help on Cosmology for the final 1.5 days
#27 Re: 5/5-19/5 8th Annual Boinc Pentathlon
Well I'm sitting at a heliport waiting to Go offshore after being home for 1 day so I'll be sticking on LHC.

Enough people moved to Cosmo to cover it. Enjoy your cruise!
#29 Re: 5/5-19/5 8th Annual Boinc Pentathlon
I'd like to thank the TSBT folks who helped us with the Pentathlon this year. Your help was greatly appreciated!
I did a shout out on the SUSA forums but unfortunately I forgot to mention Pete. Pete was so absolutely quiet on the forums that I forgot he was helping. That is so unlike Pete
Anyway, thanks guys! I'll try to return the favor at some point.
