Good point, I knew there was a reason that I was trying to get that one done!
Also wanted to get it in case the project stopped..... some of my wuprop projects were just a couple of hours away from hitting the next level when the projects finished :(

Well done, I noticed you having a high RAC and catching me fast .. Hopefully you'll be distracted on other projects now ! , until my 2 week bunker hopefully uploads ..

It's interesting why the team haven't crunched more on this project ? I'm second which is worrying!

Sub projects and badges and long WUs deadlines and availability are all good, give it s go ....

It's just one of those things I guess. I do little bits of yoyo here and there but never enough to make much progress with badges...
I think I've got a way to go for any sort of badge at the moment :sleepy2:

Do I see an Amethyst Enigma badge? (meaning more than 10,000,000 credits) Yes, it is Amethyst: Paul of TSBT, presently 71st at Enigma@Home
And a Sapphire GFN badge (meaning more than 20,000,000 credits) as well..... Both feats will take me some years yet!

Considering your enormous computing power, you MUST have a Double Income and No Kids.
If I were in that position, I'd already bought server mainboards for multiple Opterons/Xeons too.
As for now: it's crunching on a budget. Kids have left the house, but so has my income :(

Actually, I have a 12 year old son who is getting more expensive each year. Otherwise I might have dual cpu LGA 2011 V3 systems instead of LGA 1366.

But he's a great kid and worth every cent he costs me :)

I've just done a quick calculation on the costs for a 64-core Raspberry Pi 3 system -a poor man's Cray.
It can be done for a little over 1,100 Euro's:

How to build a Raspberry Pi BOINC cluster, and what does it cost?

Say you want a cheap, 64-core system, how you're gonna do it?
  1. Buy 16 Raspberry Pi 3's - the ones with inbuilt WiFi and BlueTooth- as it saves on cabling.
  2. Buy 16 micro SD cards, Class 10, at least U1. We may need that extra read and write speed.
  3. Buy 16 USB to microUSB cables.
  4. Buy two 10-port powered USB Hubs that offer 5V and 2.5 A for each and every port.
  5. Buy six stackable casings.
  6. Install Boinc Tasks on your host system -so you don't need 16 keyboards or 16 HDMI cables.
Costs:
  1. 16 times the price of a Pi 3, for me 16 x 42 Euro = 672 Euro
  2. 16 times the price of a micro SD card, for me 16 x 10 Euro = 160 Euro
  3. 16 times the price of a USB to microUSB cable, for me 16 x 5 Euro = 80 Euro
  4. 2 times the price of a 10-port hub, for me 2 x 40 Euro = 80 Euro
  5. 6 times the price of a stackable case, plus some extra interconnecting material, for me 6 x 20 Euro = 120 Euro
  6. Free!
That's a grand total 1,112 Euro -but that includes all needed mobos, cpus, RAM, casings and PSUs. It will eat 16 x 3 Watt at most.
A 64-core Opteron system needs a quad Opteron mobo, four Opterons, a non-standard PSU, lots of ECC RAM and at least one disk.
A 64-thread Xeon system needs two 16-core Xeons and a likewise support of other hardware.
