#1 Multi Moo! - cards that is

Post by Alez »

Moo is weird. All my systems have multiple GPU's which moo would download work for but would then just sit and refuse to crunch, even with nothing else available. Found the solution though. Write an app_config. Why the project doesn't ship one out of the box I know not. Any hoo, this is the config to make it work on multi GPU systems.

<app_config>
<app>
<name>dnetc</name>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>1</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>0.25</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>
</app_config>

currently running this though as 1 unit at a time was not efficient enough.

<app_config>
<app>
<name>dnetc</name>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>0.50</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>0.25</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>
</app_config>

Alez, I'm after some more help. Again :oops:
I've tried to run some moo gpu units and they all fail. Are you managing to run them on you 7970 or is it on your other cards?
Did you do anything else to get it to run?

Moo will not run on the 7970, long running saga but they will all just fail. Don't waste your time. I was running then on the 660ti's. Your older ATI will run them though, and I'm sure you must have a spare slot ....... just saying. Multi cards, just do it :D even the same driver, go on , you know you want to.....waste of a perfectly good card gathering dust Image

As far as I am aware ( if I get a chance tonight I will do more research ) , Moo still does not run on a 7970. Hence it will not run on the 7990 either. Wouldn't waste your time with it. If you fancy a change point yer beast at Einstein for a couple of days and give me a hand getting it out of the drop zone :D

Thought it was worth updating this thread since AMD Hawaii, Tahiti and Pitcairn GPUs now run Moo! Wrapper extremely well. No special app_config or app_info file needed. Too good as a matter of fact. It runs hot, so be prepared to use MSI Afterburner or CCC to downclock the core and memory if needed.
